A Cliche Thing

My ribs absolutely ache sometimes;
My sternum feels like it’s gone for the heart--
You know?

My chest feels like it will implode;
My throat constricts and the choked cry dies--
Same for you?  

Heartache is supposed to be a stupid cliche thing.
As far as I’m concerned,
It can stay in fairy tales where it belongs.

I’ve found Life is more cliche than any story.
And we relate so well,
Because the fairy tales have become our lives.

Fiction’s got to come from somewhere I suppose.
Where better than right here?
